Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Vidar (the “Service”). By adding Vidar to a Discord server, using its dashboard, or completing a verification, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Vidar provides Discord verification, alt-detection, and raid-protection tooling. Server administrators (“Operators”) configure and are responsible for how the Service is used within their communities.

2. Eligibility

You must meet Discord's minimum age requirement for your country and comply with the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Operators must have authority to administer the servers on which they install Vidar.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to harass, surveil, or unlawfully profile individuals.
• Attempt to de-anonymize hashes, reverse-engineer signals, or re-identify users.
• Circumvent, probe, or disrupt the Service, its rate limits, or its security controls.
• Use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others.

Operators are responsible for providing their members with appropriate notice of data processing and for using detection outcomes fairly and lawfully.

4. Verification decisions

Vidar produces risk scores and recommendations to assist human moderation. Automated decisions may be imperfect; Operators are responsible for their moderation actions and should offer members a way to appeal. Vidar is a tool, not a substitute for human judgment.

5. Availability

The Service is provided on an “as available” basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

6. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT DETECTION RESULTS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

7. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VIDAR AND ITS MAINTAINERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

8. Indemnity

Operators agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vidar and its maintainers from claims arising out of their configuration or use of the Service, including their handling of member data.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by removing the bot. We may suspend access for conduct that violates these Terms.

10. Changes

We may revise these Terms; the “last updated” date reflects the latest version. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
